A Hidden Ingredient

Earlier this month, Nate & I went live on social media to discuss health topics that most people don’t want to talk about. In the middle of our conversation, we shifted to discussing a topic that I came across and was amazed at just how damaging this ingredient can be. We both were already aware that it’s an ingredient found in many things that we eat that you want to avoid eating, however what I learned, I had no idea just how bad this ingredient can be.

I know you’re saying what is this ingredient, right? I’m so glad you asked! Remember these 4 words and be sure to stay away from it. Those 4 words are high-fructose corn syrup. I know you’ve heard of this before, but do you know just how damaging it can be to your overall health and weight loss goals? I definitely learned a few things as I continued to listen to a video that I found as a doctor shared.

First of all, if you have weight loss goals and want to define your waistline and get rid of belly fat, throw everything away that has high-fructose corn syrup in it. High-fructose corn syrup is linked to weight gain. It’s not only linked to weight gain, but it confuses your system so that you don’t know when you are full. Have you ever had a Ritz cracker or in contrast an Oreo cookie? It was hard to eat just one or two of these right? Well you would expect high-fructose corn syrup to be in the Oreo, but what about the Ritz crackers? I was blown away to find this ingredient in a cracker. Many wheat breads have this ingredient, alongside the breakfast bars that you may think are healthy for you or your child to grab while heading out the door each morning. Well, they are not! This ingredient is not only bad for our health, but it is 8 times more addictive than cocaine. As far as your weight loss & waistline goals, you may as well just add fat to your waistline when eating foods that have high-fructose corn syrup in them.

In closing, high-fructose corn syrup forces your brain to tell you to eat more! Stay away from it and pay attention to hidden ingredients.
